No, it isn’t. These are two different codes.

What is an activation code?

An activation code is part of a retail package that can be purchased in retail stores or if you are buying a registration online as a gift. You can also get an activation code from the patron who has pre-paid the registration for you. It is a 16-digit number, a combination of numbers and letters, and is in the following format: XXXX-XXXXXX-XXXX. Please rewrite the activation code, including the dashes.

What is the activation code for?

The activation code unlocks the registration process for the global pet registration network ScanMy.Name and ensures that the full amount of the Family registration fee is deducted from your order total. If you have a retail package or flyer from a patron in hand, you can start the registration process on this page

If you have initiated registration another way, you can still enter this code at the checkout page. However, we recommend registering through the link above for a smoother registration process.

What is the ScanMy.Name smart dog tag number?

It is a non-transferable chip number inside the ScanMy.Name dog tag and is in the format SMN-XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Although the tag number is not listed anywhere for security reasons, you can find it by retrieving it with your smartphone. Once loaded, a pop-up window will automatically appear on the screen displaying a relevant number. If you register from your mobile phone, it is automatically stored in your phone memory. Therefore, you can add it to your pet’s profile with a single click without retyping it. However, if you register from a computer, the tag number must be typed, including the dashes, in the appropriate field.
